UPDATE: My video to the candidates asking about their solutions to global warming is now linked to blog posts on PrezVid.com and the Huffington Post. Check out the posts here:
Here is a video message that I made to the 2008 presidential candidates asking what’s their plan for reducing carbon emissions 80% by 2050. We need real solutions for dealing with global warming now!
MY IDEA FOR BARACK OBAMA TO PROMOTE TO THE CITIZENS OF THE USA.
1. TO DEMAND ALL CARS MADE OR USED IN THE U.S.A. ARE HYBRIDS BY 2009
2. TO DEMAND ALL HOMES ARE INSULATED BY CONTRACTORS HIRED BY THE GOVERMENT TO EMPLOY VETERANS AND CITIZENS (IN THAT ORDER) SO THAT ALL HOMES IMPROVE THEIR EFFICIENCY BY 75% BY 2009
3. TO DEMAND ALL PRODUCTS HAVE THEIR WASTEFUL PETROLEUM BASED PACKAGING REMOVED BY 75% BY 2010 BY USING GREEN PACKAGING THAT LEAVES NO TRACE
4. TO DEMAND THAT ALL INDUSTRY REDUCE ENERGY USE BY 50% BY 2012 BY EMPLOYING SOLAR, WIND AND ENERGY EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY AND LIGHTING BY 2009
5. DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE INCREASE IN PUBLIC TRANSIT UTILIZING GREEN TECHNOLOGY BY 2010 SO THAT ALL PUBLIC TRANSIT UTILIZES TOTAL GREEN ENERGY BY 2011
6. PROMOTE BY HOMEOWNER TAX REDUCTION THE USE OF VEGETABLE VICTORY GARDENS AND REMOVING TREES AND BUSHES THAT DO NOT GROW FOOD BY 2010
7. OUTLAW ALL ALL MANUFACTURERS WHO PRODUCE GENETICALLY ALTERED SEEDS AND PLANTS IMMEDIATELY
8. TO DEMAND THE RECYCLING OF EVERY BOTTLE AND CAN SO THAT IT IS NOT PUT IN SANITATION LANDFILLS BY OFFERING A 25C DEPOSIT ON EVERY CONTAINER AND BY GIVING OUT FINES TO THOSE WHO DON’T RECYCLE.
9. TO STOP THE USE OF LAWNMOWERS, WEEDWHACKERS, ETC AND DEMAND EVERYONE TO HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PLANT TREES AND BUSHES AND NOT HAVE TO HAVE LAWNS. FOR THOSE WHO DEMAND TO HAVE LAWNS THEY WILL USE A SHEEP OR GOAT RENTAL SERVICE TO KEEP THEIR PROPERTIES MAINTAINED.
10. TO DEMAND ALL FOOD STORES SWITCH OVER TO BULK FOOD SALES AVAILABILITY TO REDUCE PACKAGING AND DAILY SHOPPING TRIPS.
11. TO REMOVE ALL RV AND TRAVEL TRAILERS FROM THE PUBLIC ROADS EXCEPT FOR A TWO TRIP A YEAR MOVING ALLOCATION DURING WINTER MONTHS TO WARMER CLIMATES AND ONLY FOR THE USE OF FULL TIME LIVING QUARTERS.
12. TO OUTLAW ALL BOATS AND RECREATION VEHICLES FOR PLEASURE
13. TO IMMEDIATELY STOP ALL AUTO RACING DRAGSTRIPS AND BOAT RACING AND TRUCK RACING AND MOTORCYCLE RACING ETC
I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT I AM SURE YOU GET MY DRIFT. THE PEOPLE IN THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES HAVE TO STOP THE WASTING OF VALUABLE RESOURCES FOR PLEASURE SO THAT THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD CAN SURVIVE IN A DECENT MANNER.
RESPECTIVELY YOURS

PS: IN 1991 I BUILT 3 TWIN HOMES THAT ARE 2400 SQ FT CINDER BLOCK HOMES FILLED WITH PERLITE WITH 2 INCHES OF CELOTEX AGAINST THE INNER SIDE AND STEEL STUDS AND ALL 5/8 DRYWALL WITH ALL EXTERIOR WALLS FINISHED AND CEILINGS WHERE THE INTERIOR WALLS ARE NOT A CONDUIT TO THE EXTERIOR WALLS BRINGING COLD TO THE INTERIOR WALLS. THESE HOMES USE BASEBOARD HOTWATER HEAT WITH A ZONE FOR EACH FLOOR AND EACH HOME IS BURIED IN THE REAR OF THE HOME BY 12 FEET ALLOWING THE NATURAL HEAT OF THE EARTH TO BE TRANSFERED FOR COOLING IN SUMMER AND HEATING IN WINTER. THESE HOMES USE NATURAL GAS HOT WATER FOR SHOWERS ETC AND USE NATURAL GAS FOR DRYERS (WHICH SHOULD BE OUTLAWED) AND NATURAL GAS STOVES AND THE TOTAL GAS BILL FOR THESE HOMES WARMED TO 72 DEGREES IN THE COLDEST WINTER MONTH HAD A TOTAL NATURAL GAS BILL OF 35.00 IN 1997. ALL THE WINDOWS ARE THERMOPANE AND THE BASEMENTS HAD RADON COLLOCTOR PIPES BURIED AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE ON THE INTERIOR AND IT WAS NATURALLY VENTED TO THE OUTSIDE. THESE HOMES ARE IN THE PHILADELPHIA PA SUBURBS. THEY ARE 3 STORIES WITH A FULL BASEMENT.
NOTE: I USE TO MAKE THE OXYGEN PRESIDENT NIXON WOULD BREATHE WHILE FLYING IN THE AIRFORCE ONE PLANE. I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT TEMPERTURE TRANSFER BY CONDUCTION CONVECTION EVAPORATION CONDENSATION WHERE WE SLOWLY LOWERED THE OUTSIDE AMBIENT AIR TO LIQUID NITROGEN TO 321 DEGREES BELOW ZERO TO PURGE THE LIQUID OXYGEN AT 281 DEGREES BELOW ZERO TO MAKE SURE IT WAS 99.9% PURE. AND 99.7% PURE IS FOR ALL AIRLINES AND 99.5% PURE WILL KILL YOU. SO I HAVE BEEN UTILIZING ENERGY CONSERVATION EVER SINCE I LEFT THE USMC IN 1974 AND STARTED MY FIRST RECYCLING CENTER IN N. CALIF IN 1975
Wow Danielle that’s impressive! I hope that Barack gets the message and issue bold policy ideas around climate and energy cause we definitely need them.
So that’s what you look like? Now I can better put a face to the name.
Look, I agree with you that we need better and more efficient energy. I totally agree with that. And this should not be a political issue. There is a HUGE market for this, and I can guarantee that those who invent new, more efficient forms of energy in the next two decades, will not only be rich –they will be the next Tom Edisons!
Energy efficiency will hopefully same me money, not cost me more. That is my largest concern.
You video is useful to a point I’d say. We need people and awareness for more energy initiatives. I just get irritated that the government politicizes what everyone should agree on. We do need a plan. But what about COMPANIES coming up with a better plan? Why does the government have to have so much involvement?
I am a conservative, as you know. I believe that the government should have minimal involvement in my life, my money, and should only exist to oversee basic infrastructure and protection of citizens, through law and military –if and when need be.
I will say that I am still extremely skeptical of the alarmist vision of Al Gore’s suggestion that the Earth will fry and that civilization is doomed. I do not believe that man is ruining the planet.
For hundreds of millions of years, the Earth’s climate has fluctuated. Why all of a sudden would it be our fault this time, and not the sun –which has been the case every other time for hundreds of millions of years. I just don’t buy into the political hoopla, that this has created.
But I do think that it is vital to get away from energy sources outside of ourselves.
We now face a crisis worldwide, with Iran and Venezuela, using oil as a weapon against us. When we place sanctions on Iran (rightfully so, mind you), the oil market may be held hostage (for a short period).
To me, it’s not necessarily about saving the world. It’s about saving ourselves, by being self-sufficient.
Brent, buddy, I believe that hell has frozen over cause we agree on something. Okay, we mostly agree, but I will take that. For me its not about saving the planet because the planet will be just fine. Its about the impact that climate change will have on people that concerns me.
This is not a partisan issue. Its something that we should all come together to figure out. There is something in it for everybody. Whoever develops renewable energy technologies will make lots of money. Independence from fossil fuels will make it less likely that other nations will be able to influence or hurt our economy. By using lower amounts of fossil fuels, we will not be tempted to blow off the tops of mountains to mine coal. There’s something there for everybody.
Michael,
Very poignant and simple, direct questions. You look great! Keep up the good fight, and teach me how to make my own blog. I want to do one on “no child left behind”, which really should be entitled “all the dumb children left behind.”

The smart person will INVEST in renewable energy sources like switchgrass ethanol, and so forth.
I’m just waitng for companies to go public with this, so I can make a cool million or ten!

By the way, I liked this vid, but I seriously doubt that the Senators will respond. If they do, then your blog is going to light up dude!
By the way, you do know that Senators rarely win presidential races, right? I think JFK was the last, correct? And why didn’t you include Rudy G?
I have no idea whom I will support as of yet, because it is far too early, and we haven’t had a single debate yet.
I like Fred Thompson, but he isn’t running (yet). I think he can bring some LAW and ORDER. Where’s Ronald Reagan when you need him?
It’s all HOT AIR!
Damn, I think I had one too many beers tonight! Holy crap.
