More Than Just a Pretty Face

December 14, 2007

Watching this video makes you realize just incredible it is when someone decides to come out of the closet about being gay. And to do so in the very public way that J.P. Calderon did takes even more strength and courage.

J. P. was a member of the cast of Survivor: Cook Islands and later join the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. On the Janice Dickinson show J.P. was offered the cover of Instinct Magazine which unlike a lot of gay magazines only features openly gay men on the cover. J.P. came out to Janice on the show and appeared on the February 2007 cover of Instinct.

Kudos to J.P. for making the choice to live his life openly and honestly. May your courage help inspire others to come out of the closet.

Much love: Aussielicious

    J.P.,
Your coming out, and the coming out of other known people, is a present to all of us who live out lives. Thank you and welcome to the club.

I met him this summer at Kansas City Pride. Obviously he was paid to be there, but he seemed like a nice guy and was very gracious. Hopefully his understanding of sexuality and masculinity has evolved a bit.
