Is It Open Season on Gay People?
March 6, 2008
That is the question that has to be asked. GLBT people are being murdered at the rate of one every eight days and as Waymon Hudson of Fight Out Loud points out in this video, these are just the ones we know about. Most anti-gay attacks are either unreported by the victims or are reports are not taken seriously by law enforcement agencies.
And, while gay kids like 15 year Lawrence King and 17 year old Simmie Williams are being gunned down members of Congress have still failed to pass the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act.
We have to do more to demand an end to the violence.

Yes. I can’t believe the press re: the shooting of the gay kid in Oxnard. It’s blame the victim all the way in the press. At least the prosecutors are charging the murderer with a hate crime. I give Obama credit for speaking out against homophobia.

I can’t believe we’re still fighting this fight. It’s been almost 10 years since I attended a candlelight vigil to remember Matthew Shepard.
