ABC’s news magazine 20/20 took a fascinating look at what happens when same-sex couples engage in public displays of affection. Producers of the show taped two same-sex couples, one male, one female, in Birmingham, Alabama and Verona, New Jersey.

The best reaction was from the woman in Birmingham who called 911 after seeing two cute guys making out on a park bench. Of course, she watched them for an hour before calling the cops.

What I found a little surprising is that is that the differences in reactions between people in Birmingham and Verona was not as stark as you expect. There was a disapproving minority in both cities, but for the most part people were supportive and non-judgmental.
