Gay Man Elected Mayor of Portland, OR

Openly gay City Commissioner Sam Adams was elected mayor of Portland, OR yesterday making him the first openly gay person to lead one of the 30 largest cities in America. Adams defeated multiple opponents including businessman Sho Dozono.
Adams’ campaign was endorsed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory which helped to raised money for his campaign. The Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to increasing the numbers of GLBT people serving in elected office.
